Calm, melodic & sweetly melancholy, Hotel Gypsies weave their acoustic songs together with a harmony that feels like home. Minimal instrumentation & well-crafted vocal melodies give the folksy duo plenty to work with, featuring original material & carefully chosen covers, equally rootsy & classic.”

— The Hype Weekly, 2011

Hotel Gypsies are Justin Trowbridge and Chantelle Constable, a hobo folk noir duo from Manhattan, KS.

Justin is a native of Hutchinson, KS, and displays his talents on ukulele, viola, banjo, and accordion. In his day-job disguise he works in the Biology department of KS State University, and is also the rock n' roll drummer for MHK band Funtabi. Justin's influences range from Tool and They Might Be Giants to Mike & Katie West and The Calamity Cubes.

Chantelle grew up on a farm near the tiny town of Blue Rapids, KS, and flaunts a soaring soprano voice with accompanying guitar skills. She studied classical voice at K-State and her passion for music has taken her to NYC and Hungary, Austria, and the Czech Republic. Inspired by Jill Tracy and Jennifer Knapp, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Weimar Berlin and the French Revolution, she brings a wide-ranging, historically-based set of influences to the duo.

Justin and Chantelle are cat-lovers, gardeners, and whiskey drinkers. Their "plainsbilly sophisticate" music is sweet and sharp, saluting the beauty of the great plains, the Flint Hills, and the annual burning of the tallgrass prairie. They have been performing together since 2011 as founding members of prog rock band Lithus, and as 2/3 of synth rock trio Echopod. Hotel Gypsies have performed throughout eastern and central Kansas, from Manhattan to Wichita, including appearances at music festivals such as Aggiefest and Midfest. 2019 will see the recording and release of Hotel Gypsies' debut album, featuring their popular original songs and favorite covers, including The Muppets and traditional murder ballads.
